He was born at 91 Onslow Square, London, the only son of John William Crombie, Liberal MP for Kincardineshire. Eugene as he was always known was a Captain in the Gordon Highlanders who was Killed in Action, St. George's Day, 1917. He was also a War Poet and here is one of his poems. Easter Day, 1917, The Eve of the Battle.
