  • Some questions

    Hello,

As we have said in this topic : http://www.scotland.com/forums/new-m.../28961-hi.html , we prepare our move and have some questions about it.

    1. Is it easy to find a flat quickly ? How many does it cost generally ?
--> We have made some researchs on "findaproperty" but we doesn't find what we want to. Is there any flats or little homes-to-rent in the countryside which could be less expensive ?

    2. Could us find a job in Scotland, before our move ?

    3. How much the daily life is estimated ?

Thank you so much (and sorry for our bad english, we're learning ).

Rene & Renato, save your money and keep your jobs in sunny france, come visit on holiday instead. The UK is FULL up, no JOBS, no HOUSING, CRAP weather and a very pissed off BRITISH PUBLIC to all things coming out of Brussels....

The sooner the UK vacates Europe, the better....

or just ignore what the right wing fool above says and come anyway.....

it wont be too hard to rent a flat privately and it will prob cost you between 350 and 500 a month to rent.
if you get one in the country side it will be more expensive and there will be less chance of you finding work.
what kind of work you will effect how easy it will be to find it but theres always bar/restaurant work but the pay isnt that good with them (prob the same in france)...unless youve got some kind of profession or skill it will be hard to get work before you come here.

remember europe has an open door policy and the views of the "brittish" guy above are only a very small minority.

most of the people on scotland consider themselves "scottish" instead of "brittish" for that very reason.

im surprised his post hasnt been deleted by a mod tbh

      great ad for the site

I concur that Tantallon's post is not a very agreeable one to read but he is
a member and is allowed to air his thoughts too...not all Scots are in agreement
with the decisions made by the EU.

I am not going to delete the post because I do believe that Tantallon has
the right to say what he thinks even though not helpful to anyone wanting
        serious information.

        In answer to the questions

You might get a better idea of properties if you look on the online newspapers of the
areas you are thinking of !

        2. Could us find a job in Scotland, before our move ?

It does depend on the employment you are seeking...again online newspapers can
        assist you !

        3. How much the daily life is estimated ?

This question is rather vague to me...do you mean working hours or is
it a cost thing of daily life..if that it does depend on what you live like !

Not helpful are the words I used and there have been many un-helpful replies
            to serious questions.

Thank goodness that the unhelpful members are outnumbered !

I just read his post as a fed up Scot who wanted to get his opinion out to
a query...not someone who could be abusive.

Concurring with Babz. That post is an opinion of someone, it isn't abusive and doesn't break any of the use policy statements.

              Sorry.

The beauty of OPINION is that it isn't necessarily yours, so don't own it. Your statements in contrast tig, are just what you should do if your opinions differ.

Hopefully, no one will ever be shut down for exercising their freedom of speech.

so your saying no moderation is good moderation..

the post WAS NOT an opinion whatsoever relating to what was asked.

a site thats supposed to promote Scotland allows people to tell others not to come or not to ask about it cause we're "pissed off" with them.

no need to repeat what you already said n nothing to do with free speech....

i wonder why its so quiet when people make one post n get told to f'off

                great work guys

I'm with you, Tig. It's implictly racist and quite unacceptable.

I would recommend that you take your concerns regarding interpretation of said post to Admin. They should have the final call over this kind of debate.

In my opinion, it's not racist as it doesn't target a people, it comments upon a country. But I am happy to accept what Admin decides about it.

While I agree it's not the nicest statement ever made about the British or European politics, it stands as someone's political opinion comment. It is not making a statement about your opinions, but the poster's. It's not a Mods job to change someone's opinion but to make sure the post follows the site's use policy. In checking and comparing against the use policy I can assure that moderation was done, but I understand that you wouldn't just know that.

                      @ tig

Babz and Kathy do an excellent job of moderating the forums and the Scotland.com support team agrees fully with their decision to leave the post in question and their reasons for doing so.

Having said that, we value your participation, sense of humour and helpfulness in the forums and hope we can move past this disagreement.

                      Best wishes
