        Hackers 'steal entire 2011 census'

        Hackers 'steal entire 2011 census'

The entire 2011 UK census database has been stolen by hackers and will be published online.

Ryan Cleary, an alleged member of the hacking group behind the claim, LulzSec, was arrested in Essex (21 June 2011) specialist cyber crime officers from Scotland Yard.

The 19-year-old was taken to a central London police station and remains in custody on suspicion of Computer Misuse Act and Fraud Act offences.

A “significant amount of material” was also seized from an address in Wickford, Essex.

The “pre-planned intelligence-led operation” in collaboration with the FBI followed claims online that the 2011 census database had been stolen and would be published in full.

“We have blissfully obtained records of every single citizen who gave their records to the security-illiterate UK government for the 2011 census,” a posting purportedly by LulzSec said.

There is no such thing as the "UK census". Nor is there anything called the "UK census database".

One would like to think there was some sort of political objection underlying the ferment of failure to complete census forms.

But I suspect most of them are just drunk watching the telly.

Unless we can construct the notion that apathy could somehow be a form of passive aggressive protest, yeh, that's it!

No, they're just drunk in front of the telly.
Under Common Law it is not against the law not to fill the consensus form. Just more scare mongering. It is also correlated by an American arms manufacture Lochheed Martin! All I do is mark on the unopened envelope "No contract Return to sender".

                not true im afraid mate

the census act 1920 (amended 2000) makes it illegal to
"refuse or neglect to comply with the census, makes a false declaration, makes, signs, or delivers a false document, or causes the same, or refuses to answer, or gives false answers, shall be liable on summary conviction and face a maximum fine of £1,000"
dont know if theyve ever bothered prosecuting anyone over it tho
