My family emigrated from Edinburg to what became South Carolina in the US. They came in the late 17th century. I'm trying to trace back to Scotland. The US spelling of the name is Walker. But I understand that it may have been spelled differently in Scotland. There were 7 families from Scotland that emigrated at the same time. One of the other was Nasworthy(sp). Any help or direction would be appreciated.

Hi there James and welcome to the site. You might want to check in the Genealogy forum, there's a lot of helpful information in there about researching a family history and name.

Just scroll down the page with the list of forum names.

Walker and that's the only way I've ever seen it here, is claimed as a Sept of Stewarts of Appin
