In what fashion is the word used? Is it the name of a woman or a color or the sap from a tree or what?

I went to the dictionary of the Scots Langauge online and found this:

DSL - DOST Amber, Ambir, n. Also: ambre. [e.m.E. amber, ambre, ME. ambyr, aumbre, etc., OF. ambre.] Amber. Dalr. I. 47/31 (this mater called succine or ambre); 48/7 (a waichtie masse of amber). 1649 Wemyss Chart. 233 (an pair of ambir braslits).

The archaic Scots word for amber is lammer (Scots dialect dictionary) but lammer is just a corruption of amber rather than being a distinct word.
