  • please help!!

    hi to everyone out there!
i write from spain. i've been in scotland once (and looking forward to going back!!!) and think it's one of the most beautiful places i've been to.
anyway, i'd like to ask you for help. i'm a translation student and my task for the next four months is to translate "trainspotting". I'm stuck in (what i think is) a cultural reference that i can't find anywhere. I'm referring to "the trades". One of the character says: "the dough gits divvied every year, the fortnight before trades". Can someone tell me what it means, please?
    Thanks!!!!
