  • Mcgregor - Keir??

Was doing research, have allot of info..but is it common that one member of a family, my great great grandma would be Mcg Keir, and not her siblings. Her mom's maiden was Mcgregor. Just seems odd to me..kinda confused..lol

Our naming traditions often have a female child being given their mother's maiden name. For instance, my cousin, female, has the middle name Grant.

Not just the ladies - my uncle's middle name is my grandmother's maiden name.
