  • Savoury Cheddar Shortbread

    A different shortbread !!!

    (Have been told its a diabetic recipe)

    25 g butter , for lining baking sheet plus 450 g butter, softened
    680 g shredded Cheddar
    900 g plain flour, plus more for kneading
    1 tbsp. garlic salt
    1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper

    Used imperial measurements


    1) Preheat oven to 190 degrees C.

    2) Line a metal half sheet baking pan (30 by 45 cm) with baking paper and butter.
    In large bowl, mix together butter, cheese, flour, garlic salt and cayenne.

    3)Turn out onto floured surface, knead lightly to blend well.

    4) Spread evenly into prepared pan. Score, with a paring knife, into small squares or rectangles.

    5)Prick each square with a fork twice to make a cross shape.

    6) Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

    Serve hot or cold.
