Old East Kilbride Stuff

Over ’30s will remember this lot: Dicks Diner, Mushroom Restaurant (did it become HJ’s?), Memory Lane, no bus station, bus stops on Churchill Avenue, no Stewartfield/Lindsayfield, The Forum (always good for a boxing match on a Saturday), those stupid concrete statues, Weavers pub (mainly under 18’s), Victor’s chippy under the cinema, Gemini disco, Yeoman pub, FREE car parks, Olympia ballroom, SMT buses, John Wright Sports Centre Trim Track, wooden huts in half the primary schools, the Shows every April in the Showpark. Does anyone think of anything else?

It’s a shame when Scottish topics fall to the bottom of the page with no replies and not terribly many views. This is Scotland.com?!I’m not from EK, but I am a big fan of the Jesus & Mary Chain, Aztec Camera/Roddy Frame, and Ally McCoist… all of whom I believe come from EK. What other bands or famous people come from there?

Oh well, Non-Scotland living people are here to stay so get used to the non-Scottish topics and make yourself at home.

Almost forgot! No bloody South Lanarkshire Council! Scots are the furthest travelled in the world, spreading their culture and knowledge to almost every country. Scots have got to the top in many countries, so there will probably be a little bit of Scots in you as well. So yes – Scotland.com is for everybody. What we Scots try to do is tell the world about our country and its attributes and its friendly people.
