So I intended to make this video ages ago, last summer in fact when I recorded all of these clips, I just never found the right music or thought of a good way to use the clips. I also decided to put it together now because I only just found these snazzy filter effects on Sony Vegas and wanted to use them. I hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching :]

THE ROAD TO THE ISLES - Andrew Hennessey [01:22]
Andrew Hennessey plays on starfish electric fiddle, acoustic fiddle and glass percussion the Road to the Isles in the spirit of the late James Calder QC's memorable arrangement of the same as Conductor of the Edinburgh Highland Reels and Strathspey Society in the 1970's when I had joined as its then youngest member in 1969. James Calders wonderful arrangements gave the fiddle orchestra in Edinburgh a great musical lift - and I will never forget the full orchestra doing this one - obviously without the rock patch !! but with the same punch. "The Road to the Isles" is a famous Scottish traditional song. It is part of the Kennedy-Fraser collection and it appeared in a book entitled 'Songs of the Hebrides' published in 1917, with the eponymous title by the Celtic poet Kenneth Macleod. The poem is headed by the statement 'Written for the lads in France during the Great War'. The impression is given by the notes appended to the book that the author was Kenneth Macleod himself. Marjory Kennedy-Fraser toured the Western Isles of Scotland in the summer of 1917 and collected a group of local tunes. The tune associated with the Road to the Isles was an air played by Malcolm Johnson of Barra on a chanter. Kenneth Macleod then wrote the words for a voice and harp (or piano) arrangement of this air by Patuffa Kennedy-Fraser.
