Snow Falling Parish Church Forgandenny Perthshire Scotland [01:15]
Tour Scotland video of snow falling at the Parish Church on visit to Forgandenny, Perthshire. A Scottish church has stood on this site since medieval times, however little of the original building remains, the only surviving medieval masonry is found at the foot of the eastern wall. Extensive restoration was performed in 1902 under architect TS Robertson, and the red sandstone windows visible in this image were added at that time.
Mother Of Sir William Wallace Grave Dunfermline Fife Scotland [00:25]
Tour Scotland video of the grave of the mother of Sir William Wallace on visit to old graveyard by Dunfermline Abbey in Fife. W illiam Wallace was born on 1272 in Ellerslie, Scotland. He was the second of three sons of Sir Malcolm Wallace, a minor laird possessing little political power and nobility, and Margaret de Crauford, the daughter of Sir Reginald de Crauford, the Sheriff of Ayr. William Wallace was educated at home by his mother, then given schooling and religious education by the monks of Paisley Abbey. Traditions surrounding Dunfermline tell that Sir William wanted to erect a monument to his mother after her death in 1280, but did not have time to do so, thus he planted a thorn tree instead. The Dunfermline Abbey Kirk Session Burial Register records burials by marking them from that Thorn Tree, a singular honor. The thorn tree stands on a small mound on the northern side of the Kirkyard.
Great Wall of China in England? Not Quite! [02:39]
Two things that The Great Wall of China and Hadrian's Wall have in common. They both were built to keep the barbarians from invading their lands and overtime they both failed to do so. Join The Indiana James has he embarks on the journey to film Hadrian's Wall, the border of the Roman Empire at its greatest size, between present day England and Scotland.
February Lunchtime Drive To Coupar Angus Perthshire Scotland [02:40]
Tour Scotland February of a lunchtime drive from Scone to visit Coupar Angus, Perthshire. A typical, narrow Scottish country road. Snowdrops were starting to appear by the sides of the road. Very sunny today in Perthshire.
Coast And Castle St Andrews Fife Scotland [02:07]
Tour Scotland video of photographs of the coast and castle on visit to St Andrews, Fife. This Scottish castle sits on a rocky promontory overlooking a small beach called Castle Sands and the adjoining North Sea. There has been a castle standing at the site since the times of Bishop Roger, son of the Earl of Leicester. It housed the burgh's wealthy and powerful bishops while St Andrews served as the ecclesiastical centre of Scotland during the years before the Protestant Reformation. A small selection of my personal photographs shot on small group tours of Scotland.
