One of the most scenic descents by bike in Scotland is the C11 road on the Cowal Penisula that heads from Clachan of Glendaruel over the Bealach Maim climb and down to Otter Ferry on the banks of Loch Fyne. The Bealach Maim / C11 climb is a hidden gem on a singletrack road and is one of the toughest in Scotland with over 1000 ft elevation gained in less than 2 miles with an average gradient of approx 9% but the view from the top makes it worth the effort.
