Ayr (The Sandgate) To Prestwick Airport, Ayrshire, Scotland At Night.(21dec2011). [10:26]
We had to go to Ayr to pick a couple of things up after my work today. This is the journey home, recorded on My Nokia 6303. I'm sorry there's no sound, my wife was talking to me and the dog was barking as well. I still have the Nokia after a year and a half, and will probably replace it sometime in the new year. It's a low tech phone by todays standards but the video and photo quality are still impressive, considering how basic and cheap the phone is.

Ancient Scotland,Ayrshire:Barnweill Church,(Built 1400's Closed 1689 AD) Near Prestwick (26nov2011) [03:43]
I've been up at the Barnweill Monument (approx 600ft asl) behind Prestwick airport many times on radio or photography related projects with friends, and I've never seen this before. I've no idea how I managed to miss it, it's really obvious once you know what you are looking for! Both it and the Barnweil monument (built 1885)are visible from the A77, the Kilmarnock to Ayr dual carriageway. I'm no expert on the history of this area, and I don't want to reproduce somebody else's hard work here as if it was my own, so here's a link with some pretty comprehensive and interesting information... en.wikipedia.org The video was recorded on a cold, windy Scottish winter's day. I will return in the future when the weather's better and record more footage. Next time I'll remember to take my tripod too!

Can Force Boeing C17 Departs Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK), Ayrshire, Scotland (18nov2011) [02:52]
Filmed on a very windy day. The wind is obvious by the noise and the amount my camera is being blown around, so I'm sorry the film is a bit shaky. You can also hear a little of the conversation with Prestwick Tower, but the wind drowns it out a bit. I was on my way to Ayr when I heard a plane at Prestwick Airport with the Can Force callsign taxiing for a take off on Runway 13. I saw the C17 on its way up the runway and parked in time to film it as it passed me and took off, somewhere just after 2pm local time (GMT).

Fire At Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) Ayrshire, Scotland 1997 [02:17]
Another piece of history scanned into my computer from some old photos. If I'm honest, its a fire right NEXT to Prestwick Airport, but the boys from the airport fire station were first on the scene, so it's near enough. This was about the time I got "serious" about my photography hobby, and started carrying my Minolta X300 and lenses everywhere with me. Right place right time I guess. I initially thought the smoke was something else, but my friend pointed out that the tractor was, in fact on fire! Funniest part of the day was the tractor driver, the large man in the white T-shirt in the photos, who looked at me as I was taking photos and said "as well, saves me baling it!" I wonder if anybody who was at the scene (particularly the emergency services), remembers this day. I'd be interested in your comments if you were there ;-)
