Arran: Lochranza to Corrie [07:48]
Arran: The Isle of Arran itself is located in south-western Scotland, in the Firth of Clyde near Glasgow from where a combined boat and train ticket can be purchased [£20.10 - August 2012, Glasgow Central Station]. Measuring approximately 167 square miles (433 km2) in area, the Island has a population of approximately 5000. Although the seventh largest island in Scotland, Arran is not technically one of the Hebrides, being the southernmost of the Scottish islands. Arran is just 20-miles long and 56-miles round and in the Gaelic means 'peaked island'. Often referred to as 'Scotland in Miniature', Arran offers visitors a compact and easily accessible island that mimics the geology of mainland Scotland, with a sparsely populated and mountainous northern half that contains the Corbetts Beinn Tarsuinn, Cir Mhor, Caisteal Abhail and Goatfell as well as the Graham Beinn Bharrain, with a flatter, more populous southern half. Located close to Glasgow and Scotland's Ayrshire coast, Arran is a popular and easily accessible tourist destination and of course, a walker's paradise, with walks of every single description imaginable. Lochranza of course is host to the small vehicle ferry that leaves Claonaig, a tiny spot on ...

Abandoned 16th century "Eastend House/Castle" ---- South Lanarkshire, Scotland [06:56]
Information from buildings at risk register scotland: Georgian country house built around the nucleus of a simple square keep of c.1500. The tall crowstep-gabled wings to the east and west were added in 1673. The bow-fronted elevation to the south was added in the 18th century and completely encases the original keep on that side. The Scottish Baronial additions to the west date to 1851 and are by David Bryce. The original keep is now only visible along its north front and a little of its east side. It is in coursed and harled rubble and rises through 3 storeys to a crenellated parapet borne on corbels. A gabled garret storey sits above. The first floor string course continues along the 17th century wing to the east.
