This doo'cot dating from 1694 is next to Kincarrathie House, the former home of Arthur Bell of whisky fame and now a residential care home for the elderly. This Scottish building was intended to house pigeons or doves. Dovecotes may be square or circular free-standing structures or built into the end of a house or barn. They generally contain pigeon holes for the birds to nest. Pigeons and doves were an important food source historically in Western Europe and were kept for their eggs, flesh, and dung.

Day 8: After leaving Castle Stuart outside of Inverness, we drove down the remote eastern shore of Loch Ness toward the Isle of Skye. On the way we stopped at Eilean Donan Castle, probably the most recognizable landmark in all of Scotland. Yes, it's the most photographed edifice in all of Scotland, maybe all of Britain.
