Gretna Green - Scotland's haven for runaway brides [01:38]
Before the law was changed, Gretna Green was famous as the place to which underage couples eloped from England to get married, as parental permission was not necessary in Scotland. The village just happened to be the first place over the border, and the village blacksmith the marriage "celebrant" as all that was required was the witnessing of the couple's mutual promises.
