A short video of the East of Scotland Group of the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers portable line at the 2012 Dundee Model Railway Show. The clip features Colin Binnie's prototype DeWinton in steam and my tamed Mamod plus a number of models owned by individuals of the group.

'The CairnGorm Mountain Railway is the highest railway in the United Kingdom since it opened in 2001. The two-kilometre long funicular ascends the northern slopes of Cairn Gorm, the United Kingdom's sixth-highest mountain. The route is located within the Cairngorms National Park, the largest National Nature Reserve in Britain, near to Aviemore in the Highland council area of Scotland. The ski area also lies within the Cairngorms National Park. It is publicly owned, being operated by Cairngorm Mountain Limited and wholly owned by the Highlands and Islands Enterprise. Construction of the Cairngorm Mountain Railway started in 1999. It opened on 24 December 2001, forty years after the opening of the White Lady Chair Lift, which it replaced. The reason for the construction was that the chair lift was too sensitive to the strong winds in the area. The track is a broad gauge of 2000 mm (6 ft 6¾in). The maximum operating speed during the ski season is 10 metres per seconds (36 km/h or 22 mph). This speed is dropped to around 5 metres per second during the rest of the year. Giving approximate journey times of four minutes in winter and nine minutes during the summer (calculated without middle station stops). MODEL RAIL SCOTLAND (PART 9) [04:37]
In this part we look at 3 more layouts. Choates Lane, Hyndford & Portchullin. Choates Lane owners i'd like thank in assisting in the shots for filming & showing me round the layout. Set in either east london's industrial area or an industrial area on mainland europe (depending what stock is running). Full length Eurostars are seen running here. Hyndford is set in the Scottish SPT area & a couple of 156's & a 66 are seen here. Portchullin set some where in the highlands, takes us back to BR blue era. The layout has many detailed buildings & great weathering etc. A credit to the layouts builders. In the next part we take a brief look at Bachmann's stand & it's eagerly awaited Blue Pullmann DMU, plus more layouts. Coming next......

MODEL RAIL SCOTLAND 2012 (part 11) [04:55]
In this the 2nd to last part of this series, we take a look at some more layouts from this years show. The layouts this time are: Rosebank Junction, a OO gauge BR transition period layout. Grangemouth again set sometime during the transition period of BR. To finish off, we had back to 1944 & WW2 & the build up to D-Day, Rowlands Castle. This superb layout has stunning details & modelling to a very high standard. The final part of this series to follow next...
