Frederick Thomson Gravestone Western Cemetery Dundee Scotland [00:47]
Tour Scotland video of the Frederick Thomson gravestone on visit to the Western Cemetery in Dundee. Frederick was born on 10th of April, 1864 and died on 4th of September, 1917. His father, William Thomson, was a successful draper and later a shipowner, and in 1884 became the major shareholder of the Dundee Courier & Daily Argus. Frederick, joined the company in 1888. In 1905, DC Thomson Ltd. was founded with £60000 capital. William, the father, David Coupar, the other son, and Frederick had all but four of the company shares which were valued at £10 per share. Each wife had an allocation of one share. When Frederick died in 1917, DC became the sole proprietor of the company.

SCOZIA L'immagine comune è quella di paesaggi senza cornice, enormi praterie di erica e torba, montagne brulle spazzate dal vento, scogliere grigie dove si infrangono onde schiumanti e scure, castelli sinistri, cieli perennemente carichi di pioggia e città annerite dal fumo. Non è così. La Scozia è un paese alla quale basta la grazia di un giorno sereno per diventare colorato. Ed è andando sempre più verso il nord di questo paese di gente simpatica e aperta che le case diventano bianche, o in qualche caso color pastello, le grandi praterie che si trovano sono tenute rasate come moquettes da greggi d'insaziabili pecore o da mucche che non conoscono la costrizione della stalla. Certo in Scozia piove molto, ma il fatto viene preso come consuetudine, e tutti ci convivono con la pioggia snobbandola. Così come viene sfidato il freddo vento del Nord che spazza il paese da una costa all'altra. La natura nordica della Scozia si vede nei rilievi e nelle scogliere drammatiche puntate a capofitto nelle acque color acciaio del Mare del Nord. Ma non tutto è estremo nella terra dei kilt e delle cornamuse, la Scozia è soprattutto natura è un paese che non ha uguali. Perché è unica la natura degli uomini e del territorio, fatta di contrasti e cordialità, spazi infiniti e sentimenti in miniatura, scoprite con noi in questo viaggio fotografico questo meraviglioso paese...
