It was built in the 13th century and consecrated in 1242 by Bishop David de Bernham. It received significant additions in the seventeenth century. The church was abandoned in 1827 and was restored 1856 and then abandoned again. There are memorials on the north, east and west faces inside the old aisle. The church is surrounded by a graveyard. In common with most medieval churches, the majority of memorials are located on the south and east of the church.
