Springtime in Scotland - Holiday something different [08:13]
Here you can see little photos of our holiday trip in Edinburgh/Scotland. We made all photos by Sony Alpha 33 (SLT-camera) connected with Sony SAL-1870 DT3.5-5.6 1.3ft macro objective. All photos aren't reworked. Some of them has effects such as tonal separation, black-white, pop-colors, retro, high-key, part-color and toy. Furthermore you can see some blend-portraits and to get light-tracks in night shots, the shutter speed was extended. In the background, you can hear instrumental music by Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera and Alizee. The photos lost little quality by uploading, it's visual on the copy protection. Ps. The seal and the squirrel was alive and in free nature!!! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hier seht ihr ein paar Fotos von unserem Urlaub in Edinburgh/Schottland. Pt2:Scottish Series 2 (The Far North Challenger) Deltic "Royal Scots Grey" [04:19]
In this Part 2, we see the tour Arrive into Thurso, Uk's most northerly town & boasting the most northerly railway station. After arrival of the tour, we then made a dash to another road / lineside location on the A9 ( half way between Thurso & Georgemas ). We see the 2nd local working of the day heading north towards Thurso. After swapping the Deltic & class 37 loco's around to opposite ends of the train, we then catch sight of the tour heading back towards Georgemas & Wick. The Deltic on the rear, in readyness for hauling the tour south back to Edinburgh, later in the day. Appolgies for slight loss in the odd shot with the focus slighty out, think the camera was having a rare off moment?? In part 3 we head to wick on the far north east coast of Scotland, coming next...

Pt1:Scottish Series 2 (The Far North Challenger) Deltic "Royal Scots Grey" [05:13]
For this new series we stay in Scotland, but head outdoors. This series involved for us, some serious road mileage & driving. With so many great locations to choose from, your spoilt for choice!! So will be returning to the area to do some of the other locations. For this series we head up to the far north & the Caithness area. Here we see what we believe is possibly the 2nd time only, a Deltic has ever visited this area. The tour departed Edinburgh on the friday night (June 17th), traveling overnight to the far north of scotland. The tour visited Georgemas Junction (uk's most northerly junction), as well as the towns of Thurso & Wick. We pick up the tour (around 5:20am) as it passes through Helmsdale station. From Helmsdale the route detours inland from the coast. The east coast north of Helmsdale was too formidable in the terrain & cost, in attempting to build a railway to Wick. To avoid the hilly terrain of the east coast, the railway builders took a more longer route inland. After Helmsdale, we then leap ahead of the tour by road to see it's arrival into Georgmas Junction. We also see one of the local workings as well. We'll feature a more detailed look at Georgemas Jn station later in this series. The Loco in question is non-other than Deltic 22 "Royal Scots Grey". This twin Napier engined loco is celebrating it's 50th year. It's also recently been featured on BBC One TV's breakfast program. Look out for the big Deltic 50th event at shildon later this year.
