Marischal Aisle Dunnottar Parish Church Stonehaven Scotland [00:42]
Tour Scotland video The Marischal Aisle in the graveyard beside Dunnottar Parish Church on visit to Stonehaven. It was built as a private family burial aisle by George Keith, 5th Earl of Marischal, in the late 16th century, with a vault below, and was attached to the south side of the medieval church, which was demolished in the 1780s to make way for the current parish church. The aisle became a ruin thereafter but was partially restored in the late 19th century, before being extensively restored in 1914 by Marischal College, part of Aberdeen University, in memory of the college's founder.

Tour Scotland video of St Salvator's College Quadrangle on visit to University on North Street, St Andrews in Fife. St Salvator's College was founded in 1450 by Bishop James Kennedy. In 1528, the Protestant martyr, Patrick Hamilton, was burned alive outside the college, though Patrick himself was a member of St Leonard's college. From 1837 the quadrangle was rebuilt and extended into its current form, with a north and a west wing in Jacobean style.

Tour Scotland video of the James Philip, schoolmaster, gravestone in the Old Kirk graveyard, Kirk Wynd, Kirkcaldy, Fife. This was the father of Dr John Philip who was a missionary in South Africa. Philip was born at Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. After starting as an apprentice to a linen draper in Leven, and working as a clerk in Dundee, he entered the Wesleyan theological college at Hoxton, and in 1804 was appointed minister of the first Scottish Congregational chapel in Aberdeen. On 24 September 1809 he married Jane Ross, the daughter of a prosperous Aberdeen engineer; they had seven children.
