We are situated in a quiet hamlet 0.7 miles from Drymen, with views to Loch Lomond on approach, and so ideally situated for West Highland Way walkers at the end of their first days walk. The Rob Roy Way also starts at Drymen. There are several pubs in Drymen for evening meals, as well as local shops, art gallery, cashpoint, and a Post Office. The Cottage dates back to the 18th century when the Duke of Montrose built Buchanan Smithy for the estate workers, close to his then home at Buchanan Castle, which is now a golf course. The name Buchanan Smithy comes from the presence of a number of Blacksmiths working in the Smithy here. Now extended an tastefully renovated, The Cottage provides a cosy and comfortable stay in some of Scotlands most beautiful countryside. We aim at a quiet and relaxed stay so on arrival tea and coffee will be provided to welcome you. To make for a peaceful nights sleep, there are no TVs in the bedrooms, however you are welcome to use the lounge which has TV facilities. Wi-fi is available on request (please bring your own laptop) Tea and coffee facilities are also provided in the rooms.
