UK Industrial Heritage Tour [06:21]
Just over 6 minutes edited from 14 hours of video taken on our August 2010 UK Restore Tour. This 19 day tour through England Scotland and Wales took our Toursgallery group to see a wide variety of machinery and heritage associated with The Industrial Revolution. Guests visited and saw Portsmouth Royal Navy Docks and walked all over HMS Victory, had a very personalised visit at the Manchester MOSI with all its working engines, went down into the Welsh ' Big Pit' Coal Mine and walked all over and under The Iron Bridge, the first Cast Iron bridge, built by Abraham Darby in 1779. We explored Blists Hill Victorian Town, took a look at Manchester Ship Canal, Clydebuilt Maritime Museum, saw George Stephenson's Train 'Locomotion No 1' built in 1825, got inspired by the National Railway Museum in York, were very impressed by the RAF Museum at Hendon ... but the main feature of all was our 2 days at The Great Dorset Steam Fair. Private collectors of engines, farm equipment and tractors were visited, the wonderful generous hospitality offerd by Geoff Challinor and his fellow devoted workers at The Anson Engine Museum, Mike Ellis and his family on their farm decorated with a mountain of restoration projects, Harry Ferguson's Grandson and his wife Sue who put on such a lavish lunch for us and Jim Thomas' private collection of tractors which we could ride around his field.
