Berneray, off North Uist, Outer Hebrides, Scotland - ferry trip from Leverburgh, Isle of Harris [03:03]
It's an eleven mile trip to Berneray, an island of about 10 sq km and around 130 inhabitants. In 1999, it was joined to North Uist, its southerly neighbouring island, by a causeway. This improved travel to the island, employment prospects and the carriage of produce, such as crabs and lobsters. Yum yum. The causeway contains culverts that allow the easy passage of otters and fish from one side to the other. There are also big signs on the road asking drivers to look out for otters crossing. A key feature of Berneray is its machair - a coastal plain made up of windblown shell sand.

Outer Hebrides, Scotland [02:41]
Put some pictures from my holiday on the Outer Hebrides together tonight with some music so I can show people what I saw. Photos were taken with point and shoot camera, not edited and are shown in order they were taken over two weeks. Started off at Barra, through the Uists and Benbecula and up to Harris and the Isle of Lewis. Scotland is truly beautiful, whatever the weather and we had all of the beaches to ourselves and not a midge in sight :) Visited the Callinish stones several times, hence the different pictures. Enjoy!
