2012 EUMSC Roadtrip - Some Snippets of Northern Scotland [03:56]
Had the opportunity to go on a roadtrip up through the Highlands and north of Scotland with some friends for the Edinburgh University Motor Sport Club. I was unable to film a lot of video, but I did take some at Chanonry Point near Inverness and Bealach na Bà near Applecross and the Isle Skye. Absolutely beautiful scenery, Scotland is such an amazing place! Shot on an iPhone 4S (so please excuse the shakiness!) and editing using iMovie. Audio track is the song "Viva la Vida" by Coldplay.

Scotland Road Trip - Bealach na Ba (descent to Applecross) [08:57]
From the summit of Bealach na Ba to Applecross. No cuts, no ethereal celtic tunes, just a three cylinder Triumph. There are a couple of stills of Applecross bay at the end.

Scotland Road Trip - Bealach na Bà (ascent) [12:33]
Ascent of the "Pass of the Cattle" from A896 (Tornapress) to Applecross. The video has had only the stops and starts for stills removed, the route is otherwise complete. I was so glad for a fine day as this is not a route to be taken for the first time in dreich conditions. Some viewers may have driveways to their front door wider than this road, few more exciting or with better views though.

Applecross Adventure [13:17]
BEALACH NA BA Bealach na Bà is a historic pass through the mountains of the Applecross peninsula in Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands and the name of a famous, twisting, single-track mountain road through the pass and mountains. The road is engineered similarly to roads through the great mountain passes in the Alps, with very tight hairpin bends that switch back and forth up the hillside and have gradients that approach 20%. It boasts the greatest ascent of any road climb in the UK, rising from sea level at Applecross to 626 metres (2054 ft), and is the third highest road in Scotland. The name is from the Scottish Gaelic: Bealach nam Bò for Pass of the Cattle, as it was historically used as a drovers' road. APPLECROSS The name Applecross is at least 1300 years old but is not used locally to refer to the 19th century village with the pub and post office on Applecross Bay, opposite the Inner Hebridean island of Raasay. This row of houses which is often referred to as 'Applecross' is actually called 'Shore Street' and is referred to locally just as 'The Street'. The name Applecross applies to all the settlements around the peninsula, including Toscaig, Culduie, Camusterrach, Milltown, Sand, 'The Street', Lonbain and many others. The three music tracks used on the video were all composed by myself in 2012. They are: "Starlight", "House of Cards" and "Summer Ghosts".

NW Scotland. Lochcarron to Bealach na Ba summit (x 4) [06:06]
Video compression x 4. 1 May 2012. The ride from Lochcarron along mostly single track road to the foot of the "Bealach na Ba" (Pass of the Cattle) road before the turn off by Tornapress is worth including. It gives an insight into the nature of the countryside hereabouts and also one of the hazards....a Red Deer crossing the road! The view from summit car park on this occasion was excellent......One can see the Cuillins of Skye quite easily directly ahead, just as the motorcycle comes to a halt at the parking area/view point.....pause the video to see?
