Tayport Harbour & Dundee Road Bridge. [03:08]
Tayport is located on the east coast of Scotland in fife, at the mouth of the river tay. It is a historic harbour town with attractive views of the Broughty Ferry coastline and those of Tentsmuir Forest. Bottlenosed dolphins are regular visitors to the Tay Estuary from March to September and can be observed at very close quarters from Tayport harbour. Tayport harbour is also a good place for fishing, although swimming is dangerous due to current. The Tay Road Bridge is a bridge across the Firth of Tayfrom Newport-on-Tay in Fife to Dundee. At around 1.4miles, it is one of the longest road bridges in Europe and slopes gradually downwards towards Dundee. It carries the A92 road across the Firth and takes traffic directly into the centre of Dundee, just downstream of the Tay Rail Bridge. Construction of the Tay Road Bridge began in March 1963 and requird the demolition of Dundee's Royal Arch where Queen Victoria had entered the city on a royal visit. The bridge took 3 and a half years to build at a cost of approximately £6 million, and was officially opened by the Queen Mother on August 18th 1966. The bridge was built to replace the former Tay ferry service, populary known in Dundee as "The Fifie"
