Obviously, Scotland does not meet these criteria. While I wanted some transition from Africa into Asia, I never imagined it'd be in the UK. But Laura had been before, and really wanted to go back. So, Edinburgh it was, and I liked it more than I thought I would. It's like LondonLite --- much smaller and more laid back, but with similar architecture, culture, and refinement. It doesn't have the same glamour or buzz, but I'd venture that it's more livable. A not so short rundown on what we did: The first day we did the obvious: tour Edinburgh Castle. What a great idea! Put a castle smack dab in the middle of the city. Every city should really do this. Apart from being a nice centerpiece, it's impossible to get lost because you can always look up and get your bearings. Yeah, so it's pretty neat and castle-y, and you can see where Mary Queen of Scots hung out. But, I'm still glad I was born in the late 20th century, because, as cool as castles are, they didn't have running water or flush toilets, and it was probably pretty drafty.
