Sports Heroes from Scotland

Alex Cameron
Alex Cameron was the chief sport editor and the chief sports writer of the Daily Record as well as for the Scottish Daily Mail. He covered numerous sports events, such as seven World Cup Finals, seven Olympic Games, four athletic championships, seven Commonwealth Games, and two world boxing championships. He was loved by his colleagues and co-workers who called him "Candid" or "Chiefy". The warmth of Alex's affection was revealed at his funeral in 2003 which was attended by hundreds.

Mike Wilson
Mike Wilson was the development director of the Scottish Sports Hall of Fame, a freelance writer for various national newspapers, such as The Football Desk at the Guardian and the sports desks at the Sunday Times Scotland. He is also the Author of two books on Hibernian FC as well as "Don't Cry for me Argentina", about Scotland's 1978 infamous World Cup Campaign.

John Burnett
John Burnett works at the National Museums of Scotland where he specializes in the history of Scottish sport. He is also the Author of Sporting Scotland, and together with Professor Grant Jarvie, he edited Sport, Scotland and Scots. Burnett is pretty much responsible for developing exhibitions on sport at the National Museums of Scotland.

Bob Crampsey
Bob Crampsey is the Author of 26 books on football, golf, cricket, politics, travel and four novels. He was also head teacher in Coatbridge and long-established football writer and broadcaster.

Louise Martin
Louise is a former national swimmer and an immediate past president of Scottish Gymnastics. She was the Gymnastic team manager at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, the deputy Chef de Mission at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, the Chairman of the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland, the honorary secretary, and also a member of the Sportscotland council. She was also a lecturer in Sports Nutrition.

David Webster, OBE - 2002, 2003
David is a record-holding weightlifter, powerlifter, wrestler, sports acrobat and trampolinist. He has also held numerous posts with the Scotland Commonwealth Games team, including chairman of the Commonwealth Games Council for Scotland, team manager and the chef de mission.
