Theatres in Scotland

Theatre has long been a part of Scottish culture and today the country boasts a number of fine theatres. Some of these are old and well-established, while others are still relatively new and are gaining a reputation for hosting ground-breaking performances. There are children’s theatres, royal theatres and small village theatres in Scotland. There are interactive performances, where the audience is invited to get involved, and performances that are so incredibly well-acted and brilliantly staged that you can’t but help but be caught up in the world of make-believe. Then again, there are theatrical performances that are so obscure or bizarre that you’ll find yourself groping for some shred of comprehension by the end of the show. Whatever sort of Scottish theatre you enjoy most, you’ll be sure to find what you are looking for at the various theatres in Scotland.

Our son is in Edinburgh,Scotland as we speak, he called us twice and told us he is enjoying himself. He is with Dr. Phillips High school theatre group from Orlando,Florida USA, that was invited to perform there. They performed "The Wiz". I myself lived in Dunoon back in the early '80's when I was stationed there with the U.S. Navy.I had a fantastic time there and got to meet alot of very nice local people. I will return someday to the great land.

My husband and I will be in Glasgow in late June, early July 2010. We would love recommendations for available shows at that time, preferably small village theatres or royal theatres. Thank you!
