Spectacular Loch Lomond Golf Course

One the western banks of the legendary Loch Lomond of Scotland, which is the largest lake in Great Britain, sits an exclusive golf club, the Loch Lomond Golf Club. Spread over six hundred acres of the Clan Colquhoun ancestral estate, comprising of natural forests between picturesque mountains and the massive tranquil lake, the club is the long term home of the Scottish Open. The vast area of this 7100 yard parkland course ensures that each hole is a private domain of its own except for the second and fourth which are linked. The eighteenth century exquisitely restored Rossdhu House, seat of the clan, is the club house of this very private club which is just twenty-five minutes from Glasgow.

No hidden hazards entrap you here and the only distraction from this spectacular course designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf in1993 is the breathtaking scenery. The immaculate course with lush fairways, large beautifully manicured greens, the setting and service on and off the course, makes the entire golfing experience here among the best in the country. Crisscrossed by streams and bogged by marshland, play amidst these natural hazards calls for skill expected of one of the top ranking courses in the world. Majestic trees, including Scots Pine, Douglas Firs, and ancient oaks form a natural amphitheater and add to the grandeur. The rolling landscape and vivid colors of the azaleas and rhododendrons add to the stunning vistas in spring and summer.

Loch Lomond is ranked among the best inland courses in Britain. The sixth hole running along the loch is the longest hole in Scotland at 625 yards. The 14th hole is a challenge, needing a 250 yard carry over a bog to reach the green or make it to the fairway on the left. The 205-yard 17th hole is a classic par-3. The Club is intended as an international club for the occasional use of members and their guests. So take the high road or the low, but make it to this sparkling jewel on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
