Saorsa 1,
In your first posting on this thread was a series of quotes from Newsnet criticising the BBC In your second posting you give your opinion of all this. Exactly the sort of opinion that the Newsnet article was designed to elicit from its brainwashed, gullible readers. Is Newsnet just a wee bit biased in favour of the SNP? Has this particular story been confirmed? In my first post I pointed out that there were others in Scotland who were of the view that, with all the cuts having to be made, spending on this sort of thing was squandering money. I also tried to suggest ways in which you could influence what is being done, or proposed. You did not respond. Wullie then chipped in with his usual bile, a dig at me, a dig at the Highlands and Islands, a dig at the US, and a review of the economic situation straight from the Idiot’s Guide. Not a mention of the BBC, the subject of your thread. I then posted to clarify some points for Wullie’s benefit. Now you come back at me and say that my comment; “Conditions and standards of living in the Highlands and Islands actually improved under Thatcher and Major” is ”a rather pointless worthless statement to make about anything.” I did not say “the Highlands and Islands were better off” I said conditions and standards of living improved. Not “Compared to” anything, but as opposed to staying as they were or receding. I thought you might have wanted a proper discussion on the subject of your post. Now, with the support of your mate, you have reverted to type and turned it into some sort of diatribe against the Highlands and Islands. If things are not exactly what you say they are then they are pointless and worthless. How can you expect to have a reasonable discussion when you start with abuse based on the failure to grasp a simple sentence? If you can’t be bothered doing anything constructive, or consider constructive suggestions, or even understand and grasp the facts surrounding the discussion you are trying to generate, what’s the point of your thread? I am an Islander, a Highlander, a Scotsman, British, European, and free to come and go as I please. Can you tell me what the SNP can do for me to improve my condition, I do not feel inferior to anyone now as I am, how could I feel superior to anyone in an “Independent” Scotland, if it ever materialises, at the mercy of multi-nationals? Support for the SNP is not a mark of Scottishness. Questioning their policies is not an indication of a lack of sympathy for the idea of self determination. Can you tell me how much the UK Government got from North Sea oil last year or in previous years? Even if Scotland got it all, where would the rest (about £45bn) of Scotland’s budget come from? How much of it would I see? Not enough to oil a gate hinge, I suspect. Can you tell me why the SNP reneged on its promise of a referendum on independence? |
