Save Archaeolink

To: Aberdeenshire Council
A valuable resource on the Prehistory of Scotland and especially the North East is under threat by a cut in funding or worse. A possible total withdrawal of financial support which would lead to Archaeolink Prehistory Parks inevitable closure by Aberdeenshire Council.

In Scottish History Online’s opinion the Archaeolink Prehistory Visitor Centre at Oyne, Insch, Aberdeenshire gives a wonderful insight into the regions Prehistoric, Pictish and Celtic past and as an educational resource and attraction to visitors from all over the world is an extremely worthwhile experience.

For the tourist and local alike the centre helps direct visitors to the many hundreds of historical sites throughout the North East of Scotland and expands our knowledge of Scotland’s historical roots and past culture of its people.

Scottish History Online feel it's time to "Save Archaeolink" from possible closure and help procure a sustainable amount of funding for its future.

Help save this wonderful visitors centre, one of the few of its kind in Scotland and place your name on the petition and ‘SAVE ARCHAEOLINK’

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

Yes, Archaeolink is a great resource. I have already signed the petition.

Here's another for you. A Devon-based landowner plans to despoil a beauty spot a few miles from my home. You can read all about it at http://www.savequeensview.co.uk . I lodged a formal objection with Aberdeenshire's planning department months ago (before the planning application was officially submitted). People need to participate in local issues or nothing worth saving will be safe.

I couldn't agree more. I'm not from the area in question, but I find it strange that yet again a foreign land-owner wishes to desecrate a part of Scotland - presumably because they wouldn't let him do it in his own country. Do you think the new Land Reform Bill went far enough, or does it need to be tightened... a whole lot further?
