car sleaping in campsite

Hi,

during our holiday in Scotland we usually slept in the car(peugeot 206sw) in campsite (paid as 2 people, car, tent). But in two campsites we had big problem with staff - "if you don´t sleep in tent you have to leave!, you can´t sleap in car" If I asked "OK, no problem, I´l pay price for "caravan" the answer was: "NO!!! No car sleaping!!" They were unable to tell me where is the problem, only "you couldnt sleep in the car"

Do you have some advice/note? (some legal restriction?)

Thanks

Dusivka

theyre probably just worried youl keep the engine running all night.

or even hit the hand break by accident and roll over something.

why go to a camp site if your going to sleep in your car anyway?

Could it be a matter for privacy and decency.

The might have thought you would get dressed and undressed in your car !!

As Tig says why pay for a site if you do not have the correct camping gear !!

I guess it was just because the owners would not allow it so staff have to obey company rules, wether
they know the reason or not !!

Hmmm I still think there have to be some legal restriction.

Of course we had all the equipment, but it was very cold, rainy weather and in car it was very comfortable and we felt more safe there.

In early June, we were usually in the camp alone or one of the few. It was perfect holidays.

/peugeot 206sw is perfect car for this :-) - I´m 186cm tall and back in this car is flat area as your home bed :-D/

It's about privacy. For example see these campsite booking terms and conditions which state:

Sleeping in cars or vans is not permitted unless the vehicle has adequate window space and provided that the vehicle has a specially designed internal sleeping accommodation, such as fully reclining seats. A tent attachment for clothes changing purposes must be erected whenever a car/van is being used for sleeping purposes. Any windows in such units should have adequate curtains or blinds to ensure privacy. If you are in any doubt whether your vehicle will be allowed on our sites, please contact us with photos of your conversion for approval.
