Two girls, two weeks!

Hello!

A friend and I will be traveling to Scotland in May of 2012 for 2 weeks. I know that we can find a ton of information online and through travel books but would like some real world opinions on which cities we should go to, what sites to visit, etc. Also, we've been to Edinburgh before but no where else in Scotland.

We are two single mid-20 year old girls with a moderate plus budget. We are looking for cities that have a fun atmosphere (aka good shops, lively pubs, locals our age, etc) but also would love to the beautiful beautiful sights of Scotland. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Thanks!

Glasgow is probably your best bet to be honest. It's a great city for shops and nightlife and it also has decent transport systems that can quickly get you out of the city and into some more countrylike scenic places - towns of the west coast, loch lomond etc

agree with albacale.

no need to look further than sunny G.

and youl find it less pretentious and touristy than Edinburgh and chock full of cheap nightlife.

I agree with the advice of staying in G, but at least go see Edinburgh! It's a quick train trip from Glasgow and has it's own charm!

Thanks so very much for the responses Albacale, tig, and kathyv! It sounds like Glasgow may be the city to visit - along with trips countrylike/scenic places. We are very excited!
