The path less traveled

Hey my name is Emily. I planning on coming to scotland. I do not want to take the tourist route though I want to see the real scotland. Anyone with some tips on places to see and things to do?

Welcome Emily

Before anyone can advise you we would need to know what things interest you...it is no
good us sending you to see castles etc when you are interested in mountains or vice-versa.

Would you be travelling alone and what means of getting around would you be using.
More important is how long are you going to be in Scotland for and where will you be flying? into.

Once you have let us know that we can no doubt give you lots of places to go.

Hope to hear from you soon !

Honestly everything from pubs to lochs. I would like to see soome nice scenery though. I dont really mind having to walk, climb, or even hike it. I am outdoors girl in the day and pub girl at night. I'll more than likely be flying into Glascow and planning on staying two weeks to a month. I might come with a friend and a rental car.

Oki...have to say its Glasgow not Glascow

My suggestion is that you go up the west side of the country and then zigzag back down towards Edinburgh before going back across to Glasgow

The Cnoc Hotel Country House Hotel Near Inverness Strathglass Scottish Highlands
is a good place to stay(Near Inverness), the meals are very good and not too costly, their site does include a 'Whats around the area page'

You will need a car to get there.

Scotch Whisky Distilleries, Scotland - scotchwhisky.net
If you want to visit a distillery you could always go to Speyside...loads to choose from there
as well as other's dotted around the country.

Welcome to the National Trust for Scotland Online - 22 July 2011

Houses and Castles covered by the 2 above addresses.

trainline: buy cheap train tickets, get UK train times & fares - book seats online
Train Travel

Hope that helps a little.

When you make your mind up where you are going we can hopefully give you more insight to the area's.

No worries.

If you are interested in Harry Potter and where it was filmed...parts of it were filmed around Fort William.

I am sure that someone can tell you all the exact locations.
