Bound for Scotland

I will be leaving for Scotland soon. I'm up for an adventure!! I plan on visiting Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Fort Williams. Any suggestions where to stay? Places to see? I'm not one for "tourist" type adventures. I like history, folklore, food, wine and beer, being outdoors, meeting new and interesting people. :-)

Hello!

Depending on when 'soon' may be - many of the best hotels and B&Bs will be fully booked - so you probably need to firm up your travel arrangements, just a little!

Edinburgh needs at least 3 or 4 days - ditto the highlands - and Glasgow another few days too. How long would your trip be?

Lots of folk music pubs in both Edinburgh and Glasgow (can't speak for Inversneckie or Ft William)

Polwarth thank so much for your reply. "Soon" really is...I have time to plan or not. I purchased my flight but made no accommodations yet. Lordy, I am a wayfaring traveler!! I won't be traveling until end of Aug as it were. So I have time to get my lack of planning together. I know I will LOVE Scotland!! I will be there for 4 days and I plan to fly to Ireland for another 5 days...finally flying home from Glasgow. I'm so interested in the untraveled path...well, the un-tourist thing because I am looking for the best experience...the people...the culture...I thought of going to Loch Ness but decided not, and instead seeking other stories I've not yet heard from locals. The people who live there. :-) I will only be in Scotland for 4 days and it will not be worthy of all the history and culture but whatever I can experience...I will be so grateful for. :-)

Staying in Edinburgh?...try getting a room at the Dovecot in Corstorphine. Great place to stay and town centre is only 8mins on the bus.
