Whisky distilleries... the best for visitors?

Lagavulin's connoisseur tour has to be up there. Bladnoch is great - small, personal and generous.

Any other recommendations? Any that should be avoided?

I went through the Glenlivet distillery, it was a good tour, long enough to get a good sense of what they do and how but not so long that you are bored by repetitions. Then there was a nice sample at the end.

(But the BEST tour in a distillery I ever took was on Barbados, the Malibu Rum place. It was entertaining as well as informative!)

The best distillery tours I have been on are:

1. Dallas Dhu; its not a working distillery any more so you can get a proper look around and get up close to all the stills, etc.

2. Bladnoch; we got shown round by the owner himself so definitely the personal touch!

As for any others to tour, in my opinion you should probably go for the one whose whisky you prefer!

Gaelic whiskies here... anns a' Ghàidhlig!

Taigh na Croiche: Blas na GÃ*idhlig air ar n-uisge beatha

Bladnoch - great personal tour. Their forum bottlings offer excellent whisky at great prices. Got a Caol Ila 25yo for £40 last year. Great stuff!

Bladnoch Distillery - Single Malt Scottish whisky distilled at Scotland's most Southerly whisky distillery.
