We wouldn't go without renting a car either. It wasn't so hard to learn to drive on the left !! And we saw many tired and bored faces on the tour buses that stopped where we were. Stirling Castle, Distillery in Fort William, etc.

My grandmother and I took a tour when I was 14 and we felt too rushed many places. At Dryburgh Abbey nobody else even got off the bus to see it. And it was the highlight of my first Scotland trip !!
