I second Fort William, lovely!

You will find that even though petrol is expensive, distances are shorter than in the US, and cars get MUCH better mileage, odds are it won't cost much more than traveling in your everyday modern American Gas Guzzler! LOL

Sorry, can't stand Elvis! Raised on, and still playing, Classical so I go gaga over Mozart! LOL This leaves all the more Elvis for Babz, but I get the choccy!

Where in Arizona are you? My nephew moved to Phoenix from San Diego last year. He loves it, I'll stick to NE Oregon where the snow is beginning to creep closer daily! sigh!

Chevy Blazer. Tried for something smaller but there's never enough room. Real shopping is 45 miles away so we run errands for the whole family when we're in Tucson. I had a Suburban and only go 14mpg so I'm improving!

Just trying to help. . .

heh heh heh! Don't want to distract you from Elvis so I will just take all temptation of incidentals, like chocolate away. No worries about you missing a thing this way!!

Sorry for the double replies, the only other forum I've been to works a little differently.

My friend lives in Leeds, Yorkshire. Never been there either or anywhere out of the US except Mexico and a Carribean cruise.

Fort William is on my list and from playing on the internet my list keeps getting longer and longer, ideally would be nice just to stay. And yes, we've already figured that the whole country isn't much bigger than a couple of our counties so we're not too worried about how much we spend on fuel. I end up making a couple trips to Tucson nearly every week so it can't add up to much more.

I like classical too but Elvis ....
I really appreciate all your suggestions.
Sandy

Hi Sandy, Leeds from Glasgow is very manageable and if you have the chance to go you should, you could go up from there to Edinburgh, save you having to back track, (or vice verse for that matter, Edinburgh through Leeds to Glasgow) And it could give you a chance to visit York which is beautiful and interesting as well, if you have time. You could even see something like Hadrian's Wall, Harrogate, and some of the Yorkshire dales, all pretty wonderful as well!

Really, your plan to return another time is the best because there is no way you can or even should try to see it all in one trip and especially on your first trip. That would be overwhelming to say the least!
