I would certainly use the word ned.
roughly meaning an unintelligent young delinquent ruffian, up to no good, hanging round street corners etc. ------------------ More Irn Bru !!!! |

Hmm.. sounds like i am having one of my famous brain-fades. The trouble is that I have spent the last 3 years working in London and have only just returned to Glasgow, and so i am probably getting mixed up. (that's my story and i am stuck with it)

The confusion about "jocks" is a good example of the divisions caused by our common language. To an American a jock is an athlete, but in Britain it is a slang term for a Scot. It is usually derogatory, especially when used by an Englishman, and is not kindly received by Scots. For us it's a little bit like the "N" word to black people so I would strongly advise against using it in Scotland or on Scotland.com.
