Fuel cost in Scotland !!
Hi Tcg,
Cost of fuel in rural Scotland are in litres so at the moment on average cost of 1 litre = £0.78p there are 4.546 litres in a UK gallon so that makes a gallon cost £3.54 As far as I remember a US gallon is smaller than a UK one. A UK gallon is 8 pints of 20ounces. A US gallon is 8 pints of 16 ounces., that makes a UK gallon 25% bigger than a US one. As far as I can work out, the price here for the equivalent of a US gallon of fuel would be £2.80 or $3.92 (assuming an exchange rate of $1.40 to the £). So as you can see, keep your foot off the gas! Fuel costs are a wee bit cheaper in the towns but no that much. |

If you go to Safeways and buy groceries they give you a discount off fuel. Last week it was something like 2p/litre if you spent £20, 4p/litre if you spent £40, 6p/litre if you spent £50, 10p/litre if you spent £80. If you're buying 50 litres or so that can work out to £5 off a tankful. Of course this is a special offer so don't rely on it.
