Smile Rangers - Ross co.

HAVING fallen 12 points behind in the Championship race, the Tennent’s Scottish Cup remains the last real hope of silverware for Rangers this season and they face a tricky fourth round tie in Dingwall on Sunday.

Ross County, of course, only joined the Scottish League six seasons ago having previously plyed their trade in the Highland League but they have proved to be more than suitable additions to the senior ranks.

The Dingwall men have moved up the divisions, winning promotion to the First Division last season, indicating that there is the necessary strength in the north with local rivals Inverness Caley Thistle sharing the same status.

Bossed by fomer Rangers, Aberdeen and Aston Villa midfielder Neale Cooper, County have made great achievements since their entry into the SFL.

Sky TV obviously feel there is a chance of some problems for Rangers as they have picked the game for live coverage, with a 6.05pm kick-off, and given what happened to Celtic at home to Caley Thistle last season there is evidence to support the possibility of a shock.

It is, of course, unthinkable that Rangers will become unstuck at Victoria Park but they will have to work hard to get the victory they need to reach the quarter-finals and bit for a hat-trick of trophies for the third time in their history.

Dick Advocaat will have to lift his players for the long journey north and he will be boosted with the return of Michael Mols and Claudio Reyna, who were both suspended for the Celtic game.

County were not playing at the weekend because of the fierce weather but there will be an old face standing between them and the goals they need – namely Nicky Walker who spent nearly seven years at Ibrox.

Rangers got a bit of a fright the last time they were in Dingwall on Cup duty when they only managed to beat the Ross-shire men 2-0 in 1966 in the first round. A similar result will suit Advocaat down to the ground.

Need any more????

Exclamation

Being a former Rangers supporter, and having travelled all over to watch them for many a year I can honestly say that this present lot is the worst I have ever seen.
There is no passion about their play, no one plays for the jersey anymore.
They are just a bunch of overpaid, overrated so called stars who are only interested in the wage at the end of the week. This I may add includes ALL the present staff.

It used to be a pleasure watching them, but I have now reverted back to my local team - Dunfermline - who I consider have more flair and passion about them than 'The Gers'.
At their present standard Celtic will be streets in front of them for many a year to come.

'the Pars' could do you a BIG favour in the cup because as long as celtic are there you have no chance!!!!!!!!

Angry

Somebody who swaps teams because of a bad run can not call be called a supporter, a supporter is somebody who gives support through thick and thin, for better or worse etc.

I hope Dunfemline play well or you will be off again, maybe to Stenhousemure. I would be worried if I were married to somebody with that attitude, the first bad patch and on your bike!!!!

I completely agree with Charlie on this one. Rangers ARE going through a rough patch, no one can deny that, and they certainly dont need so-called support like yours, number-boy.

I stopped following Rangers a long time ago, back in the days when they had a good team.
This was mainly due to the hooligan element which followed them and still does.
I also decided recently to start going to watch matches again and since 'the gers ' were playing crap, I decided to watch a team who were trying to win, and did not think it was their god given right to win - I went to Dunfermline.
Believe me I followed them all over for 15 years and loved every minute, but sadly the passion is no longer there and they should forget the strutting about and posturing and acting like Prima Donnas and try to play the game of football.

Hope to hear from you soon

BYE!!!!!!!!!!

Wink

Sorry you feel like that, 10147.

But violence is on the the up in Scotland, so are you going to become, lets say, English.

Its only a game at the end of the day, and if we all supported one team, there would be no football, no fun and no banter like this.

See ya soon.
