2018, 2022 ?

Well - Russia 2018, Qatar 2022 - good or bad decision ?

Were palms greased ? Why did the 2 most problematic proposals win ?

What do you think ? Will Scotland be at either ?

Money changed hands - lots of money (OK, that's my personal opinion of the shysters that run football, supported by investigations by the Beeb and the Sunday Times, amongst others.)

As for Qatar? Of course money changed hands. A country that has no infrastructure and where outside temps average at 106...? So what if they promise aircon stadia..... For Australia to get only one vote - when they ran the most successful Olympics of the modern era? Disgraceful.

Ho hum - that's my little rant over!

Is it time for a shake-up of FIFA and the composition of its senior decision makers ? I understand only two of the 24 or so current committee members are ex-footballers:- Franz Beckenbauer and Michel Platini, the rest are businessmen and accountants etc. I understand even Blatter's previous experience was promoting and selling ladies' suspenders.

The world cup is going to Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. Great news, it's never been to either, and sour English grapes won't change anything.

I am pleased it is going to Russia and Qatar.

They have never held the games before so let them show us how good they can be at staging it.

Qatar weather: wouldn't fancy that if I played football

I also agree that money probably changed hands...

I have been hearing that as long as Michel Platini has anything to do with choosing the country
to hold the World Cup not one of the UK Football Associations will be allocated them.

What does come to mind is the voting in the 'Eurovision Song Contest' all pals together !!

I don't see the weather being a problem in Qatar.
The cut and pastes below show that winter conditions there are not too different from spring and autumn in many parts of the world .

Qatar has a good record for hosting international events , and their average position in FIFA World Rankings is 77.
I see no reason why they shouldn't host the Cup. They do do these things very well .

As for money changing hands re. the hosting rights bidding for top world events , when did it not ?

Quote:

'Weather of Qatar is pleasant during the short winter time, spanning from December to February. With a mild climate, temperatures remain in an endurable range. Winter is the time, when Qatar receives little rainfall. In other seasons, there is almost no rainfall. Autumn and spring in the country is dry and warm. Winter is the best season to visit Qatar.'

'In January or February, Qatar has a comfortable 25 degrees'

'October can be pleasant, at least towards the end, and December to February can be positively chilly.'

'Winter months can be counted on for the majority of annual rainfall, with daytime highs hovering between 71 and 75 and nighttime temps steady around 55 -- finally warranting a sweater for the desert'

'The climate during winter season in Doha is comparatively comfortable. Winter begins from December and continues till February. Temperatures drop down and the climate becomes pleasant. The nights in the winter season are cool. The rainfall that the country capital gets is only during the winter season. The spring and autumn in Doha is warm and pleasant, not like the unbearable summers'
