Guys, how much is a bottle of Scotch in these far flung outposts? not the fancy stuff, ordinary blended! wullie.

Well, I can't speak for Qatar, but here in sunny Oman, 1 Omani Rial (RO) = GBP 1.64 just now. The Omani Rial is expressed with 3 decimals after the point. (represents Baizes, 1,000 = 1 Rial)

Blended whiskies start at about RO 2.500 for Indian brands and Scottish imported ones like Clan MacGregor (choice stuff). Muirheads is about RO 4.500. Cutty Sark, Black and White, MacKinlays, Whyte & MacKay etc etc are around the RO 6 - 7.000 mark. Famous Grouse, J&B and Chivas are in the RO 10 - 12 range. Mind you, you can get litre bottles.

Beer can range from about RO 7 for a box of 24 cans, to about 10 or 11 for Heiniken and Kronenbourg 1664, a little more for Fosters, Bud etc. Kilkennys and John Smiths is about 16, while cider is most expensive of the lot.

Brandies start at about 2 (for Indian), Stolichnaya for about 3 and cheap Mexican tequila about 3 also.

Cheaper than I thought Lachie, Whisky has probably never been cheaper, Whyte & Mackay on offer @ £9.
