Having said that, though, I suspect lots of people in England, particularly those way down south, will not care too much about the 2014 Commonwealth Games when they are held way up in Edinburgh.

Well, it won't be your concern when we get independence, so don't fret about our health, but thanks for caring about us.

As long as we don't use the English government's olympic security specialists G4S (or GTF), our 2014 games should go swimmingly.

I should be interested to see a cite for your "second most obese" statistic. However, I tend to think you just invented it.

I'm sure you know very well that the Olympics seem only to function to make money for McDonalds, Coca-Cola and Seb Coe. Oh yes, and G4S.

The Commonwealth Games, I think, are to be in Glasgow, not Edinburgh, but don't worry about it: you seem not to be terribly good at simple facts.

Two innacurracies in what you said:

1) There is no English government. England doesn't even have its own parliament. And even if it IS true that it is the English Government (which it isn't) then someone should petition parliament to stop the Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish voting for the English Government at the 2015 General Election. I think it's a travesty that the people of the Celtic nations should have a say in electing the English government.

2) And G4S has got nothing to do with the British Government. It's a multinational company that has got nothing to do with the Government.

By the way, do you know who the director of G4S Regional Management (UK & Ireland) Limited is? A SCOT by the name of John Reid, Labour's Defence Secretary from 2005 to 2006 and Home Secretary from 2006 to 2007, who is now the chairman of Celtic. It's no wonder Labour have been fairly quiet over the G4S debacle.

Only the Americans are more obese overall than the Scots.

So the modern Olympics - which started in the Shropshire village of Much Wenlock in 1850, hence "Wenlock" being the name of the London 2012 Olympics mascot - was created to make money for the great four-time Olympics gold medallist Sebastian Coe, who was born 106 years later? I'm sorry but I don't buy it.

Edinburgh, Glasgow, what's the difference? The Scots constantly whinge and moan that the London Olympics are too far away from Scotland for them to be even remotely interested in it (as though London shouldn't be allowed to host the Olympics whilst Scotland exists) yet they seem to forget that when the Commonwealth Games are held in Scotland in 2014 that those games will be as far away from the people of most of England as what the 2012 London Olympics are for the people of Scotland, yet you never hear the English (or the Welsh, for that matter) whingeing about it.

John Reid eh.......the only labour politician ive ever liked....hail hail

the difference between Glasgow and Edinburgh is......its a different place.
like London and Newcastle...d i f f e r e n t... p l a c e s
you cant see the commonwealth games in Edinburgh, the same as you cant see Buckingham palace in Newcastle.

wheres your source for your obese statement then?....youve been asked twice to prove your claims now....so where is it?

i think Celyn meant it was not a lot to do with sport and more to do with money grabbing for large corps....something else the english probably invented no doubt lol

where/when are scots complaining its too far away?......i think this is all in your head mate....why would be complain about something we dont give a toss about?
