National shinty strip available online...

I see that at least one or two places are now selling camans (shinty sticks) and even (shock horror) the national shinty shirt online.

Shinty Shop: Shinty Leisure Wear Range

Received it Saturday. Nice quick delivery, which is a really pleasant surprise.

Material is kind of thin - similar to football shirts, but not as tough as rugby shirts.

Has "ALBA" in big letters on the back... on the back, yes, but in big white letters on a blue background near the neckline, none of this faint gold lettering at the bottom like my football shirt.

Camanachd Association/Comunn na Camanachd is bilingual, and below that it says "Governing body of shinty", which might explain it to any curious people.

It's made by O' Briens, same people that do the GAA kit I think.

Yes, best ask the guy who runs the site.

Ooh, I wonder if my wee shinty-playing niece knows. Mibbe I should mention it to my brother.

Can't say I'm mad keen on the look of it but then again I'm not the one planning to run about a muddy field with sticks. (Gah, school hockey torture puts people off any of that for life).

My brother was a shinty player when he was young.

I like the design.

A plug for Shinty in the USA

Hello,
Shinty has been played in Northern California for over 10 years, Washington State and Oregon for over 5 years.
We have played in Scotland three times and have had Gary Innes of Ft William over to coach us several times as well as having Skye Camanachd come over to play us last Sept at the Pleasanton Scottish Games.
To learn more go to Northern California Camanachd Club - home and/or US Camanachd
