Scotland Rugby league World Cup News

A thread for all Scottish RLWC news.

First of all the source for most of the news, a new Scotland Rugby league website has been launched. Welcome to Scotland Rugby League

The Scotland team is shaoing up to be there strongest to date with many Super League and NRL players at their disposal including inspirational captain and Wakefield halfback Danny Brough, Richard and Graham Horne, Oliver Wilkes, the Henderson brothers, Jon Steel, Ben Fisher, Duncan MacGillivray, James McManus and more.

Even a few Australians (not scots) have sounded interest in playing, Michael robertson from Manly has made himself available as has Peter Wallace. Both admit they don't know the Scottish National anthem. This is the kind of sh*t that needs to be stamped out!

The Scotland Preliminary squad has not been made public, the final 25 man squad will be made public in October.

Nice although I hope that they shall be more "co-operative" with the referee, than the opposition. LOL!

Let's hope so,

Scotland are pooled with France and Fiji so they will go in as aboput equal favorites to win the group with France I think. The advantage Scotland have over the Islander teams is alot of great players that can play in the halfs and hooker. The the likes of Tonga, Fiji and Samoa will be packed with big forwards but lack quality halfs. France on the other hand have one of the best stand-offs in Bosc and a quality halfback with Greseque, their weakness is in the backs with very little depth and very little options for fullback, great forwards though.

Anyways from that squad here is what I would go with:
1 - FB - Wide Liddell
2 - WG - Michael Robertson
3 - CE - Mick Nanyn
4 - CE - Kevin Henderson
5 - WG - Jon Steel
6 - SO - Andrew Henderson
7 - HB - Danny Brough (C)
8 - FR - Scott Logan
9 - HK - Ben Fisher
10 - FR - Paul Jackson
11 - SR - Oliver Wilkes
12 - SR - Duncan McGillivray
13 - LK - Ian Henderson

14 - Chris Armit
15 - Keith Galloway
16 - Rhys Lovegrove
17 - Greame Horne

18 - Mark Calderwood
19 - Daniel Heckenberg
20 - John Duffy
21 - Nathan Armit
22 - Lee Paterson
23 - Gareth Morton
24 - Andy Todd
25 - David Lynn
