They spent 80% of the final defending desperately and got righteously humped... I see this thread has gone remarkably quiet on how they "did Scotland proud" with the behaviour of the sectarian morons who support them...
Scotland's Shame...

Hindsight is a great thing but the way Rangers played was just too negative. Compare Smith's 4-5-1 with the fact that both sides in the Champions league final last night played 4-3-3, they at least showed an intention to try and score goals which can't be said for Rangers. As for the crowd trouble 42 arrests out of 130 000 fans is hardly cause for concern and the focus was so much on the Rangers fans that it escaped notice that the Russian fans had their own small scale riot at Manchester bus station. The (predictable) response to Rangers efforts stinks- it's just the usual let's all pile in and have a dig at Rangers, mentality- because of a few drunken halfwits, rather than focusing on the fact that they did achieve something really good for Scottish football by just reaching the final. Manchester has to take some of the blame for failing to organise enough facilities to deal with the influx of fans.

I am a die hard Rangers Fan who watched the final and I must say I was bitterly dissapointed. As a whole though they did Scotland well just as Celtic done a few years prior. Last year was a great year for Scottish football if you include the Euro 08 qualifications. |
