i am studying financial risk managment that is not only unavailable at glasgow and strathclyde, but i am doing it at caledonian which is the only uni in britain to offer an honours in this subject.

therefore financial institutes such as banks and insurance firms have been recruiting students directly from caledonian uni.

yes, it is a polytechnic, an honours degree form a polytechnic is, i would say the equivalent of a diploma at glasgow 'yooni'.

Unfortunately, UK football also has a hateful element of violence, racisim, bigotry, xenophobia & ill-tempered drunkenness, strongly associated with it. As well as a bit of an "its only high-jinks" attitude to the misbehaviour of significant sections of the fanbase who are more or less allowed to get away with some pretty appaling behaviour, repeatedly. My old neighbourhood used to become a complete no-go area on many match days. The police just kettled-up the supporters & left them to get on with it whilst we either got out of there or just bunkered down in our homes till it was over.

Then of course there is also the view of footballers as the spoiled darlings of society who can do no wrong to contend with as well.

The warm-up to the current whatever-cup is already on now & we are being innundated with adverts glorifying the excesses of football fans & the god-like stature of players. I don't think much is going to change when the WC comes here & the worst of them are gloating about it already.

MARS bars are being renamed Believe - to rally World Cup fans.

Bosses hope it will help inspire England to repeat the team's 1966 triumph.

The choc - launched in 1920 - will change its name later this month but revert to Mars when the tournament ends in July.

Spokeswoman Andrea Taylor said: "Mars is ideal to fuel a positive belief for the World Cup."

The Believe bar will also be sold in Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
