Hertz - laughing stock of Scottish fitba'

Is the next guy going to be the sixth manager under Romanov??!?!

http://www.heartsfc.premiumtv.co.uk/...805570,00.html

Heart of Midlothian*Football Club*(Hearts) announced that head coach Graham Rix's contract with the club has been terminated with immediate effect today, (Tuesday 22 March 2006).

Chairman Roman Romanov said: "We have been disappointed with the performance of the team. Results were not what they should have been.

"We also felt that some of the signings made in January were not appropriate for Hearts.

"In addition, the events which occurred in February when Hearts played Dundee United, including the way in which some information reached the public domain, were disappointing to us.

"I'd like to thank Graham Rix for all his hard work at Hearts. He gave 100%, but ultimately it did not work out. Vladimir Romanov and the club's management felt that something had to be done quickly. We owed it to the fans."

Valdas Ivanauskas has been appointed interim first team coach until the end of the season, and he will be assisted by John McGlynn.

I don't like to gloat at Heart's misfortune (honest ) but anything that hinders their chances of doing Rangers out a Champions league spot is good news. Scotland only gets two Champions league spots and at least Rangers would have a chance of progressing given their European experience.

Heard a story that Romanov and some 'legitimate Eastern European businessmen' (is there any other kind?) stand to make loads of dough if Hearts qualify for the Champions League. Equally, Romanov et al stand to lose money/home/legs if Hearts don't make it. Hearts' failure to put Rangers out of sight on Sunday and with a more troublesome run-in than them must have had a few sweaty palms in the Tynecastle boardroom.

Thing is they only got Rix because he was desperate and couldn't get a job anywhere else due to his criminal record - no self-respecting manager would touch it. Who replaces Rix now? Gary Glitter?

What does it say about the self-proclaimed fearless reporters of Scottish fitba' journalism - Leckie, Traynor, et al - that they haven't pinned this psychotic maniac down and asked him some serious questions about his plans for Hearts.

Not even Alex McLeish can blow the 2nd spot now, surely. Though Dado Prso on the left wing remains an 'interesting' tactic.
